Position Summary

Your Guide Through Unemployment a noted champion of youth development has partnered with MATHS Simplified, a remarkable, youth-centric, online mathematics platform ‘aimed at inspiring a love for mathematics in a fun, enriching and succinct manner’ in recruiting paid tutors for their recently launched virtual math classes.

We currently have openings for Online Primary (Middle school) and Secondary (High school) Part-time Mathematics tutors. Through this role, tutors will support students (including adult students) and the existing curriculum by designing and delivering quality lessons and supporting students in both small groups and individual settings.

To be successful, tutors will need to be hands-on initiative takers. We need broad thinkers who can make suggestions, take constructive feedback with a good attitude and without pushback and then go out and personally execute with diligence.

These advertised positions are year-round and part-time.

Job Duties

Provide direct online instructions to students ensuring the highest level student outcomes;

Utilize several communication channels in the delivery of instruction and support including but not limited to individual video calls with parents and students, small group sessions using Zoom, telephone calls, emails, and text messages;

Design and deliver engaging lessons consistent with the curriculum;

Monitor student progress and provide intervention, support, and direct outreach as needed;

Respond to a wide range of inquiries from students and parents/ guardians;

Collaborate with learning coaches, parents, other tutors and administrators to provide high-quality and comprehensive student-focused education;

Support student recruitment, retention, and local outreach activities related to marketing testing, and community building as required;

Participating in the student orientation process and attend bi-weekly meetings with administrators; and

All other duties assigned.

Achieve daily performance metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Pending Bachelor’s degree in a mathematics related discipline (students currently enrolled at university);
  • Strong technical expertise as it relates to sharing engaging content online;
  • Ability to pass a background check;
  • Experience teaching, preferably online;
  • Must be eighteen (18) years or older

  3. Teaching Mathematics at the High school level
  4. Currently undertaking mathematics related degree at the university level
